Despite the Jamaica Disabilities Act (2014) guaranteeing the right to accessible healthcare, Deaf young adults in Manchester face a system that remains largely inaccessible due to hearing-centric operations and the absence of formal interpreter protocols. This research examines their lived experiences across three themes — policy, healthcare operations, and communication barriers — to inform a media-based design intervention that promotes patient autonomy, privacy, and clinical safety.
